Ascension St. Vincent's Southside treats a higher proportion of patients with complex and severe problems than any other hospital in Jacksonville and most other hospitals in the United States. This is based on a case mix index used by Medicare to assess the severity of illnesses in hospitalized patients. The medical staff consists of more than 380 active community and Mayo Clinic physicians. The hospital employs more than 1,800 technical and support staff.
