FIRST COAST NO MORE HOMELESS PETS RECEIVES GRANT TO PROVIDE CHARITABLE VETERINARY CARE FOR SENIOR PETS IN DUVAL!

Jacksonville, FL –There’s good news for old dogs this summer as The Grey Muzzle Organization announces the recipients of its annual grants, and dogs at First Coast No More Homeless Pets (FCNMHP) are among the winners.

First Coast No More Homeless Pets in Jacksonville, FL is one of 100 animal welfare groups chosen from nearly 400 applicants to receive a grant to help local senior dogs and the people who love them. The winning groups are sharing more than $1 million in grants to help save and improve the lives of at-risk old dogs in their communities.

“This grant will help us give senior dogs, like Penny, the veterinary and dental care she needs so she can stay in her forever home,” said Jennifer Barker, CEO of FCNMHP. “No one is more grateful or loving than an old dog, and we’re looking forward to helping more senior dogs get the second chance they all deserve.”

Over the past 16 years, the national nonprofit Grey Muzzle Organization has provided more than $5.7 million in grants to support its vision of “a world where every senior dog thrives, and no old dog dies alone and afraid.”

“Thanks to the generosity of our donors, we’re delighted to help deserving organizations like FCNMHP make a positive difference in the lives of dogs and people in their communities,” Grey Muzzle’s Executive Director Lisa Lunghofer said. “Many senior dogs in the Jacksonville area are enjoying their golden years in loving homes thanks to the lifesaving work of First Coast No More Homeless Pets.”

Founded in 2002, First Coast No More Homeless Pets (FCNMHP) operates one of the largest spay/neuter facilities in the country and one of the largest safety-net teaching veterinary hospitals in Northeast Florida and Southeast Georgia. FCNMHP is not a shelter, it makes shelters stronger. Yearly, First Coast No More Homeless Pets provides over $425,000

in charitable care to help ensure that no animal will be relinquished or euthanized due to an owner’s inability to afford care. It provides services to over 74,000 dogs and cats, performs nearly 23,000 spay/neuter surgeries, distributes 120,000+ pounds of free pet food, offers professional and paraprofessional education opportunities, and serves rescue organizations throughout NE Florida and SE Georgia that work to prepare thousands of animals for adoption.

A national nonprofit, The Grey Muzzle Organization, improves the lives of at-risk senior dogs by providing funding and resources to animal shelters, rescue organizations, sanctuaries, and other nonprofit groups nationwide. As a provider of low-cost/charitable veterinary care, FCNMHP understands the special needs that senior dogs have as well as the financial struggles that many owners face when caring for their aging companions. Funds will be used to provide critical charitable veterinary care to senior dogs whose families cannot afford treatment - dogs like Penny, whose owner came to FCNMHP in desperation to save her beloved family member. Adopted as a senior dog from a shelter in Miami, FL, Penny came to First Coast No More Homeless Pets where veterinarians were able to save her from a badly infected growth so that she and her family can spend many more days at the beach together.
