Legendary singer-songwriters Al Stewart and Livingston Taylor are set to bring their celebrated musical talents to the historic Florida Theatre for an unforgettable evening on January 22, 2025. This special concert will showcase the unique blend of storytelling, acoustic brilliance, and timeless melodies that both artists are renowned for.
Al Stewart, known for his evocative lyrics and distinctive voice, rose to fame with iconic hits like “Year of the Cat” and “Time Passages.” His intricate narratives and rich, melodic tunes have earned him a dedicated following and a place in the pantheon of folk-rock legends.
Stewart came to stardom as part of the legendary British folk revival in the 1960s and 1970s and developed the combination of folk-rock songs with delicately woven tales of great characters and events from history. Stewart has 19 studio albums between Bedsitter Images in 1967 and Sparks of Ancient Light in 2008, plus the live album Uncorked with Dave Nachmanoff in 2009. Al continues to tour extensively around the U.S. and Europe. He is perhaps best known for his hits “Year of the Cat” from the Platinum album of the same name and the Platinum follow-up album Time Passages. But his career spans four decades as a key figure in British music. He played at the first-ever Glastonbury Festival in 1970, worked with Yoko Ono pre-Lennon, and shared a London apartment with a young Paul Simon.
Joining Stewart on stage will be Livingston Taylor, a gifted singer-songwriter and performer celebrated for his engaging stage presence and heartfelt songs. With classics such as “I Will Be in Love with You” and “Carolina Day,” Taylor's music reflects his deep connection with the audience and his ability to blend folk, pop, and jazz influences seamlessly.
Livingston Taylor’s career as a professional musician has spanned over 50 years, encompassing performance, songwriting, and teaching. Described as "equal parts Mark Twain, college professor, and musical icon,” Livingston maintains a performance schedule of more than 100 shows a year, delighting audiences with his charm and vast
repertoire of his 22 albums and popular classics. Livingston has written top-40 hits recorded by his brother James Taylor and has appeared with Joni Mitchell, Linda Ronstadt, Fleetwood Mac, and Jimmy Buffet. He is equally at home with a range of musical genres - folk, pop, gospel, and jazz - from upbeat storytelling and touching ballads to full orchestra performances. In addition to his performance schedule, Livingston has taught stage performance for over 30 years, beginning at Berklee College of Music in Boston in 1989, passing on the extensive knowledge gained from his long career on the road to the next generation of musicians. Livingston is an airplane-flying, motorcycle-riding, singing storyteller, delighting audiences with his charm for over 50 years.
The Florida Theatre, renowned for its opulent architecture and superb acoustics, will provide the perfect backdrop for this one-night-only performance. Fans can expect an evening filled with a mix of beloved hits delivered with the intimate charm and virtuosity that have become hallmarks of both Stewart and Taylor’s careers.
Tickets for Al Stewart and Livingston Taylor at the Florida Theatre will go on sale on August 23rd at 10:00 a.m. at www.floridatheatre.com or (904) 355-2787.
