Renowned Topiary Artist, Mike Gibson, Leads Demonstration and Presentation

WHAT:
The Cummer Museum of Art & Gardens welcomes topiary artist, Mike “Gibby-Siz” Gibson for two special events and presentations in the garden. Guests will have the opportunity to sign up for a demonstration in the morning where Gibson will demonstrate his unique and whimsical style by sculpting four site specific topiaries in the Cummer Gardens. Orange juice and other refreshments will be available to complete this spring moment.
Later in the evening, Gibson will share a presentation where he teaches guests the art and therapy of topiary, along with its history, techniques and the benefits of creative pruning.
WHO:
Mike Gibson - A certified South Carolina landscape professional with over 20 years of experience, he was a featured contestant on HGTV's Clipped with Martha Stewart. Gibson helped restore Pearl Fryar's Topiary Garden during his artist-in-residency last year and is currently revitalizing Columbia, South Carolina. He provides educational workshops and lectures countrywide, teaching communities about the therapeutic benefits of topiary. Recently accepting the first artist-in-resident position at The Ernest A. Finney Jr., Cultural Arts Center in Columbia, South Carolina, Gibson continues to beautify spaces and promote this lost art.
