Phoenix Arts & Innovation District Announces Emerald Station Construction Reaches Completion and Liberty Building Construction is Underway

Property features City of Jacksonville Small and Emerging Business Incubator, creative offices, conference rooms, catering kitchen and event space  

 

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — September xx, 2024 — Phoenix Arts & Innovation District (PHX JAX), a Future of Cities development, announced today construction on the Emerald Station located at 2320 N. Liberty Street in the historic Springfield neighborhood is set to be completed by the end of October 2024. Construction is also currently underway on the Liberty Building located at 2336 N. Liberty Street. Pre-leasing for both properties is now available.

 

“Regenerative placemaking requires continuous community engagement,” said Tony Cho, CEO and Founder of Future of Cities and Founding Managing Partner of PHX JAX. “We are focused on supporting local entrepreneurs and artists, and as we open our first adaptive reuse building and continue to make progress on the redevelopment of other buildings, we are also building momentum through outreach and events to grow a deeper understanding of how Phoenix Arts and Innovation can best serve the neighborhood and the community at large.” 

 

PHX JAX is a regenerative placemaking project comprising ten separate properties across 8.3 acres located in a designated opportunity zone in the North Springfield neighborhood of Jacksonville. The district encompasses a total of 120,000 square feet of adaptively repurposed warehouse spaces. The first phase of the development began in December of 2023 with the commencement of construction of the Emerald Station, featuring creative offices, conference rooms, a community lounge, event space, furniture rental options and in-house catering kitchen. It will also house the City of Jacksonville Small and Emerging Business Incubator (JSEB) supporting local entrepreneurs in enterprise, as well as a 10,000 square foot event venue.

 

The Liberty Building will house 17,850 square feet of open flex spaces that can be used by office or retail users.  Naked Kitchen is the first food and beverage concept to enter a leasehold agreement tenant in the project. The restaurant is set to tentatively open in Spring 2025.  Complementing these buildings is a property located at 2335 Market St. that will be an outdoor market space serving as a hub of community activity.

 

JAA Architecture and Hota Design have been selected as the architectural and design firms, Prosser Inc. will serve as civil engineer and Avant Construction is the general contractor for the Emerald Station. for the Emerald Station.

2nd Annual: 48 Hour Mural Project

Friday, September 27 at 4 p.m. to September 29 at 5 p.m.

On Friday, selected muralists will receive specific elements that must be incorporated into their murals. From there, they will have 48 hours to bring their visions to life on the walls of the Phoenix Arts & Innovation District. The public is invited to come cheer on the artists as they complete their work over the weekend! On Saturday, Naked Kitchen will be serving delicious eats onsite from 12-3 p.m., so make a day of it and grab lunch! The event will culminate on Sunday at 6:00 p.m. with a celebration of the completed works. This festival is not just a display of artistic talent, but a testament to the power of collaboration and community spirit in the heart of Jacksonville.

 

Street Art History 101: Chasing Banksy with a Graffiti Advocate

September 28  from 1:00 to 2:30 p.m.

 

The Outdoor Classroom is coming back for an encore presentation of an experiential and place-based learning experience. We turn the streets into a classroom for immersive learning. Your teacher for Street Art 101 is Kady Yellow. This event, in partnership with Phoenix Arts & Innovation District (PHXJAX), will explore the history of street art and the impact it has on creating community.
