JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — October 4, 2024 — Dominium, a leading affordable housing owner, developer, and manager, proudly announces the recipients of the 2024 Opportunity’s Front Door Scholarship Program. This initiative reflects Dominium’s unwavering dedication to empowering individuals through education, bridging the divide between potential and opportunity.
The Opportunity’s Front Door Scholarship Program is committed to providing essential financial support to Dominium residents, employees, and their dependents, aiming to facilitate access to higher education. In the 2024-2025 academic year, 335 students received scholarships of $5,000 each, totaling over $1.6 million. These scholarships are accessible to individuals enrolled in two-year or four-year colleges, vocational schools, or certificate programs. The program is designed to uplift a diverse range of scholars, including first-generation students, nontraditional students, and single parents, exemplifying Dominium’s commitment to creating pathways for individuals to unlock their potential through education.
In 2024, the Opportunity’s Front Door Scholarship impacted the lives of 48 individuals from Florida, spanning several Dominium communities.
Among the recipients is Nikole, a three-time scholarship winner from St. Cloud, Florida. She began her academic journey studying the arts at a local community college, and now, with the scholarship’s support, she is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in international relations at the University of Florida. After graduation, Nikole plans to join the United States Air Force.
The scholarship has greatly eased the financial burden on Nikole and her family. “It’s not just financial assistance, it’s a source of motivation,” Nikole shared. “This generous support allows me to pursue my dreams without the constant burden of excessive financial stress. I feel incredibly fortunate for this opportunity and am determined to prove myself both as a student and a future professional.”
Joseph, from Naples, Florida, is another recipient. His family moved to Florida from Caracas, Venezuela, and with the help of the scholarship, Joseph is studying out of state while continuing to pursue his passion for volleyball at Calumet College of St. Joseph. For Joseph’s family, it’s a pitch-in effort for financials at home, with his two siblings working part-time jobs to offer their support.
“I’m able to study out of state and experience a whole new environment thanks to the immense support of this scholarship,” Joseph shared. “It also allows me to help my parents when I’m home and build a better future for my siblings.”
Another recipient, Kielar, is a single mother who recently moved to Florida from the Caribbean. After earning her bachelor’s degree in 2016 and working in the nonprofit sector, she is now using this scholarship to further her career and pursue a certificate in nonprofit management at the University of Central Florida.
“I am determined to show my son that with hard work and determination, his dreams are achievable too,” expressed Kielar.
Nikole, Joseph, and Kielar’s stories offer just a glimpse into the journeys empowered by the Opportunity’s Front Door Program. They exemplify the transformative impact of investing in education and the future. Dominium remains committed to creating educational opportunities and breaking down barriers for individuals across the country. Congratulations to the 2024 recipients of the Dominium’s Opportunity’s Front Door Scholarship.
