The Florida Forum Speaker Series to Welcome Rt Hon Boris Johnson

Event on October 29 to benefit Wolfson Children’s Hospital 

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (Oct. 8, 2024) – The Florida Forum Speaker Series, presented by The Women’s Board of Wolfson Children’s Hospital, will welcome Former Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Journalist and Author Rt Hon Boris Johnson on Oct. 29, 2024. The program begins at 7 p.m. at the Jacksonville Center for the Performing Arts.

The moderator for Mr. Johnson’s program is John Delaney, President of Flagler College, and former University of North Florida President and Jacksonville Mayor.

“Jacksonville is recognized for its strong business ties to the UK and for its world-class healthcare,” said Mr. Johnson. “It is a sincere pleasure to participate in this program to benefit Wolfson Children’s Hospital.”

Mr. Johnson has served as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Leader of the Conservative Party, Foreign Secretary and Mayor of London. In 2019, he led the Conservative Party to an election victory, winning their biggest majority in the House of Commons since 1987 and the highest share of the vote of any party since 1979. The UK’s exit from the European Union was Mr. Johnson’s first major achievement in Downing Street. Under his leadership, the UK restored sovereign control over its borders, economy and law-making. When Covid-19 struck, he led the UK through the darkest days of the pandemic. Under Mr. Johnson’s leadership, the UK emerged from the global crisis as the fastest growing economy in the G7.

          Recently, Mr. Johnson emerged as the preeminent global leader in the effort to support Ukraine in its fight against Russian invasion. He sits on the International Leadership Council of Washington think-tank the Centre for European Policy Analysis (CEPA), and is a member of the International Democracy Union’s (IDU) Advisory Board. In addition to his work in politics, Mr. Johnson is an award-winning journalist, writer and editor. He is the author of almost a dozen books including the globally bestselling historical biography of Winston Churchill, The Churchill Factor.

          Mr. Johnson is the first of three events offered by the Florida Forum Speaker Series. Future programs include Physician, Author and world-renowned pioneer in integrative medicine and personal transformation Deepak Chopra on Jan. 15, 2025, and Floridian, Journalist and Novelist Carl Hiaasen on Feb. 12, 2025. Subscriptions for the Florida Forum events start at $250 each for general seating, $350 for preferred seating, $450 for one reserved Bronze level ticket, $900 for two reserved Bronze level tickets, $2,250 for two reserved Silver level tickets and $4,500 for four reserved Gold level tickets. The Florida Forum raises awareness and funds for Wolfson Children's Hospital, supporting its mission to ensure the finest available pediatric healthcare for all children. The Women’s Board of Wolfson Children’s Hospital is committed to raising $1.5 million for two new Kids Kare Mobile Intensive Care Units (ICUs) and other Wolfson Children’s Hospital programs. The Kids Kare Mobile ICUs are part of Wolfson Children’s Hospital’s Neonatal and Pediatric Critical Care Transport fleet and include necessary life-support equipment for the transportation of critically ill and injured infants and children.
