Thanksgiving Travel Recommendations for JAX Airport Passengers

[Jacksonville, FL – 22 November?2024] In anticipation of a busy Thanksgiving holiday weekend for air travel, the Jacksonville Aviation Authority (JAA) advises passengers to arrive at Jacksonville International Airport (JAX) at least two hours prior to their departure time to find parking, check bags and navigate through security.

On peak travel days such as Wednesday, Nov. 27, Sunday, Dec. 1, and Monday, Dec. 2, airport officials expect as many as 15,000 passengers will fly out of JAX. For this reason, passengers should anticipate longer lines and wait times and plan accordingly.

Parking

Due to ongoing construction of a third parking garage, on-airport parking is also anticipated to reach full capacity, forcing closures of existing lots and garages. Any capacity closures of parking facilities will be posted in real-time on the JAX Airport website, the airport’s X (formerly twitter) account (@JAXairport) and on Airport Road signage approaching JAX. A complimentary cell phone lot is located next to the JAA administration building on Pecan Park Road for individuals picking up inbound passengers. Travelers may want to consider using off-airport parking businesses on Airport Road, being dropped off at the terminal or utilizing alternative means of transportation to get to the airport.

A detailed list of on-airport parking options, as well as rates can be found below:
