Celebrate 10 Years of Community, Creativity, and Connection

JACKSONVILLE, Florida [Nov. 25, 2024]— Women Writing for (a) Change Jacksonville proudly announces its 10th Anniversary Gala, a celebration of empowering voices and building community through the transformative practice of writing. Join us on Saturday, December 7, 2024, at the Riverside House as we honor a decade of storytelling, connection, and growth.

Since 2014, when the first writing circle gathered around Jennifer Wolfe’s dining room table, Women Writing for (a) Change Jacksonville has nurtured thousands of writers, artists, and community members across Jacksonville. Like a river of shared voices, the organization has become a confluence of stories, ideas, and dreams that celebrate diversity and creativity in the River City.

 

EVENT DETAILS

  • Date: Saturday, December 7, 2024
  • Location: Riverside House, 2165 Park Street, Jacksonville, FL
  • Suggested Attire: Cocktail attire suggested, or come dressed as your favorite anthology cover, author, or book cover. Vintage finds encouraged!

EVENING PROGRAM

  • 4:30–5:30 p.m.: Keynote Address by Kimberly Voss, UCF professor specializing in women’s voices in journalism and politics. Sponsored by the Florida Humanities Council.
  • 5:30–6:00 p.m.: Outdoor cocktails
  • 6:00–7:00 p.m.: Doors open. Live music by Jennifer Chase and Holly Decardenas, silent auction, heavy hors d’oeuvres, photo booth
  • 7:00–8:15 p.m.: Program featuring highlights from a decade of writing, including writers, artists, and community members speaking about their experience
  • 8:15–9:00 p.m.: Music, silent auction bids, a photo booth
  • 9:00 p.m.: Champagne toast and cak

SUPPORT OUR LEGACY

The 10th Anniversary Gala is more than a celebration—it’s a fundraiser to sustain the work of Women Writing for (a) Change Jacksonville and expand its impact for years to come. The organization’s goal is to raise $10,000, ensuring the legacy of conscious, connected community continues to inspire future generations. The latest volume of the annual anthology will be on sale.

About Women Writing for (a) Change Jacksonville

 

Founded in 2014, Women Writing for (a) Change Jacksonville has been a sanctuary for voices of all kinds, fostering creativity and connection through the art of writing. From workshops and retreats to leadership training and community events, the organization is dedicated to empowering individuals and building a more inclusive, expressive Jacksonville.

 

In 2019, they reorganized as a non-profit, and began producing an annual anthology of women’s words and art from the Jacksonville community. They also offer writing circles, art exhibitions, events featuring women leaders, a leadership development program, a youth program for high school and college students, and a fellowship program for creatives.
