JACKSONVILLE, FL (December 17, 2024) –– Concert industry trade magazine Pollstar released its year-end numbers for 2024. Each year, the magazine publishes a set of charts tracking ticket sales in the concert industry.
The Florida Theatre is the #1 most attended venue of any type in the Northeast Florida and Southeast Georgia region!
The Florida Theatre’s attendance surpassed the St. Augustine Amphitheatre, Daily’s Place, the Moran Theater in the Jacksonville Performing Arts Center, and concerts at VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena. Each of these venues has significantly more seats than the Florida Theatre.
With a total capacity of 15,000, VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena sold 95,824 tickets. The St. Augustine Amphitheatre, with a seating capacity of 4,789, sold 103,532 tickets. Daily’s Place, with a seating capacity of 5,500, sold 103,750 tickets, and the Moran Theatre in the Jacksonville Performing Arts Center, with a seating capacity of 2,950 seats, sold 99,231 tickets.
The Florida Theatre, with 1,865 fixed seats, sold 183,157 tickets.
Overall, the Florida Theatre is the #44 most-attended theatre worldwide, but for theatres up to 2,000 seats, the Florida Theatre is the #5 most-attended theatre nationwide.
Top 5 Attendance – Theatres Up to 2,000 Seats:
- The Smith Center/Reynolds Hall (Las Vegas, NV), 235,038 tickets, $19,445,695 gross
- Count Basie Center for the Arts (Red Bank, NJ), 230,208 tickets, $13,704,731 gross
- Barbara B. Mann Performing Arts Hall (Fort Meyers, FL), 190,593 tickets, $14,626,979 gross
- Moore Theatre (Seattle, WA), 187,111 tickets, $10,598,608 gross
- Florida Theatre (Jacksonville, FL), 183,157 tickets, $8,473,592 gross
Florida Theatre Vice President of Programming, Kevin Stone, who books the Florida Theatre’s shows, said, “Ranking first in our market and 44th in the world for theatres despite having fewer seats to sell every night is a testament to the incredible support that the Florida Theatre receives from our community and the world-class talent that takes our stage every night. This ranking reflects our commitment to delivering quality entertainment for years to come.”
“What’s significant about the Florida Theatre being on these charts is that it is locally managed by a nonprofit organization dedicated to this building and serving our community,” said Numa Saisselin, President of the Florida Theatre. “We had some high-priced tickets last year, but the average Florida Theatre ticket was $53.24, compared to the average ticket price for a Top 100 tour in North America, which was $136.45.”
According to Pollstar, 2024 was another record-breaking year in the concert industry. Pollstar calls the period from late 2021 and early 2022 to the present a “Golden Age of Live.” Despite the interruption of the pandemic, annual revenue from the Top 100 Tours has grown 71 percent since 2019. The Top 100 Tours of 2024 were led by Taylor Swift, who set an all-time income record, earning $2.2 billion, and Coldplay, who set an all-time record for tickets sold, at 10.3 million tickets.
“The Top 100 Tour statistics, and our own attendance numbers, speak to a recognition of what we lost during the pandemic,” said Florida Theatre President Numa Saisselin. “Jacksonville likes to go out and have a good time. We value being able to enjoy live performances in the company of our friends and neighbors, and our audience tries not to miss a good show.”
The gross income from the Florida Theatre’s shows in 2024 surpassed that of the Moran Theater and concerts at VyStar and came within 1.9 percent of The Amp’s gross receipts, and 2 percent of Daily’s Place’s gross receipts.
