HCA Florida Memorial Hospital Welcomes New Head & Neck Practice |

JACKSONVILLE, FL (January 23, 2025) — HCA Florida Memorial Hospital is excited to announce that board certified and fellowship trained head and neck surgeon, Russell B. Smith, MD, has joined the facility’s dedicated care team. Dr. Smith provides advanced surgical care to treat a broad range of head and neck conditions. These include head and neck cancers affecting the mouth, throat, voice box, sinonasal cavities, and skin. He also treats conditions of thyroid, parathyroid, and salivary glands. He will join HCA Florida Healthcare’s more than 650 affiliated sites of care in Florida-the largest network of hospitals and physician practices across the state. “We understand that being diagnosed with cancer is life changing. We are committed to taking a personalized approach to provide multidisciplinary care for each of our patients, making sure they understand all options to therapy,” said Dr. Russell Smith. “At all times, our patient’s care and comfort is our highest priority and our entire team works diligently to ensure that each patient and their entire family are supported throughout the process.” Dr. Smith completed his residency in Otolaryngology at the University of Missouri Hospitals and Clinics and completed his fellowship in Head and Neck Surgical Oncology and Advanced Head and Neck Reconstruction at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. He has completed additional training to include transoral robotic surgery as well as point of care ultrasound as part of his practice.
