FNEFL Provides Students With Food This Spring Break

MEDIA ADVISORY

Feeding Northeast Florida (FNEFL) Hosts Spring Break Food Distributions, Partners with Feed Our Scholars

March 13-14, 2025

What:

Feeding Northeast Florida (FNEFL) has partnered with Feed Our Scholars, a locally-focused initiative started by Women & Family Enrichment Services, to bring awareness to hunger throughout our region –– something that doesn’t discriminate against zip codes.

Since its launch in 2021, the Feed Our Scholars initiative has grown by several hundred students each year. Packages of food are packed and distributed to children, designed to help them return to school without the worry of when they will have their next meal outside of the school day.

Families from 100 schools across Duval County have a need for meals this time of year, especially during breaks from school like Spring Break. This year, more than 1,000 students signed up for this year’s program. As part of the initiative, each child will receive a package with six days worth of breakfast, lunch, and snacks, along with fresh produce and juice. Additionally, each family will receive ingredients for a meal they can cook and enjoy together during the break. A pack-out event will be held on March 11 at the Feeding Northeast Florida campus (located at 5245 Old Kings Road) to prepare the packages for this year’s program.

In addition to this partnership, FNEFL will host two food distribution events next week to ensure children have the meals they need during Spring Break. Both distributions will be drive-through, with accommodations for walk-ups. Details for each event are below:
