Every day, military veterans make Jacksonville their permanent home after years of
service to our country. Many encounter the challenges of transitioning to civilian life. We’re coming together as a community to help veterans as they navigate this next phase of life with the inaugural Veterans Resource Day at JEA on May 20.
At the free event, active duty and military veterans will discover ways to save on their utility bills and valuable resources provided by community nonprofit organizations and city agencies. Agencies participating in the free resource fair include:
• Builders Care
• Catholic Charities
• Changing Homelessness
• City of Jacksonville Military and Veterans Affairs
• Cohen Military Veterans Network
• Department of Veterans Affairs
• ElderSource
• Operation Lifeline
• Operation New Uniform
• United Way of Northeast Florida’s Mission United
• Wounded Warrior Project
In addition to the veterans resource fair, veterans with pre-scheduled appointments will meet with representatives from Catholic Charities for potential utility bill assistance. Catholic Charities is the administrator of JEA’s Neighbor to Neighbor Fund, which provides financial assistance in paying a portion of the utility bill to those meeting federal guidelines.
