Community Hospice & Palliative Care® Launches "Mail Call" Program to Honor Veteran Patients

June 24, 2025 (Jacksonville, Fla.) Community Hospice & Palliative Care® is proud to announce the launch of its new "Mail Call" program, designed to honor and appreciate our veteran patients in a deeply personal way. This initiative expands upon our existing veteran recognition ceremonies, enriching the end-of-life care experience for those who have served our country.

The "Mail Call" program invites volunteers, students, and community members to write heartfelt letters to our veteran patients. These letters, reminiscent of the cherished mail from home during their service years, offer messages of gratitude, encouragement, and personal reflections. Participants can choose to include their name or school, allowing students to share their appreciation directly with our veterans.

"We are excited to introduce the 'Mail Call' program as a meaningful addition to our veteran recognition efforts," said Kristy Skonieczny, Veterans Initiative Program at Community Hospice & Palliative Care®. "For many of our veteran patients, receiving these letters evokes powerful memories and emotions, connecting them with the community and reminding them of the impact of their service."

The program aims to foster a deeper connection between the community and our veteran patients, recognizing their sacrifices and celebrating their contributions. Letters can vary in length and content, offering flexibility for participants to express their gratitude in their own words.

"We encourage everyone in the community to join us in showing love and appreciation to these heroes," added Kristy Skonieczny. "Your letters will bring joy and comfort to our veteran patients, letting them know that their service is not forgotten."

As part of our commitment to honoring veterans, Community Hospice & Palliative Care® is a Level Four Partner of the We Honor Veterans program. This collaborative effort, developed by the National Alliance for Care at Home (the Alliance)), recognizes hospice care providers who demonstrate exceptional care and support for veterans. As a Level Four Partner, Community Hospice & Palliative Care® is committed to providing the highest standard of care to our veterans and offering them the recognition and respect they deserve at the end of life.
