FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
July 15, 2025
Jacksonville, FL — Edward Waters University (EWU), Florida’s first independent institution of higher learning and the state’s first Historically Black College or University (HBCU), is proud to announce the official Ribbon-cutting Ceremony for its newly renovated Football Locker Room. The event will take place on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, at 3:00 PM at the James Weldon Johnson (JWJ) Academic Building on the EWU campus.

The upgraded locker room is a major milestone in EWU’s ongoing investment in student-athlete success and the continued enhancement of its athletics facilities. This renovation reflects the university’s commitment to providing a world-class environment for its football program and reinforcing the role of athletics in the holistic development of its students. “This initiative represents more than a physical renovation—it’s a symbol of our belief in the potential of our student-athletes and our commitment to fostering excellence in every area of the Edward Waters experience,” said President and CEO Dr. A. Zachary Faison, Jr. “We are incredibly proud to unveil this revitalized space and grateful to all who helped bring it to life.”

The ceremony will include remarks from university leadership, a formal ribbon-cutting, and guided tours of the new facility. University trustees, alumni, students, and community partners are invited to attend this celebration of growth, excellence, and Tiger Pride.
