Jacksonville, Fla. (September 10, 2025) — The Jacksonville Symphony Youth Orchestras (JSYO) have a great season of performances in Jacoby Symphony Hall showcasing their six ensembles. The first concert takes place on November 9, 2025, with the final performance on May 11, 2026. These events give young students the opportunity to develop as musicians, share their talents and strengthen their musical skills as evolving artists.
During the Fall, Holiday and Winter concerts JSYO will present pieces by Dmitri Shostakovich, Antonín Dvorák, Quinn Mason and more. These concerts are enjoyable for the whole family and offer a wide variety of programming.
The JSYO’s Repertory Orchestra and Philharmonic ensembles perform with the musicians of the Jacksonville Symphony during the Major/Minor concert on May 6, 2026. This unique collaboration offers talented youth the chance to hone skills and shine alongside seasoned Symphony musicians. The concert will feature the winner of the JSYO Young Artist Competition, performing as a soloist.
This year also welcomes two Solo Recitals on March 14 and April 18, 2026, taking place in the Terry Concert Hall at Jacksonville University. Free and open to the public, these are optional opportunities for JSYO students to highlight their hard work by performing solo pieces.
The final performance of the season is the annual Festival of Strings on May 11, 2026. Four ensembles of the Jacksonville Symphony Youth Orchestras come together with nearly 100 students from Communities In Schools' “Jump Start Strings” after school program for a performance featuring over 200 young musicians.
In collaboration with the Amelia Island Chamber Music Festival, the Jacksonville Symphony will host a masterclass by GRAMMY® winner Imani Winds. JSYO students will be performing for the members of the renowned ensemble on January 27, 2026 at the Jacksonville Center for the Performing Arts.
