Here Tomorrow Partners with Jacksonville Jaguars to Raise Awareness About Suicide Prevention

September was National Suicide Prevention Month and October is National Depression Awareness and Mental Health Screening Month

WHAT:

September was National Suicide Prevention Month, an initiative recognized by the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI)  as a time to build community and raise awareness around one of today’s most critical mental health issues. October is National Depression Awareness and Mental Health Screening Month, and the first week is National Mental Illness Awareness Week (October 5-11). This time is an opportunity to build connections and inspire compassionate action to provide those in need of support with resources to be able to share their stories without stigma, identify warning signs and ask for help.

Here Tomorrow, a local nonprofit transforming lives by building a community of free mental health support, recently partnered with the Jacksonville Jaguars to help raise awareness about suicide prevention. In September, the two organizations collaborated to place signage with QR codes connecting those in need of support with the Here Tomorrow community in all 155 bathrooms located in EverBank Stadium, Daily’s Place and Miller Electric Center.

Founded by Joe Kenney in honor of his son Gary, who died by suicide in 2019, Here Tomorrow is an organization dedicated to ensuring all people who are at risk for suicide can access support services with no cost and no wait— free of barriers— to live full and meaningful lives. The organization connects those in need with certified suicide prevention specialists with lived experience, normalizing mental health conversations. Appointments are not required allowing for immediate access to support both in-person at their location in Neptune Beach, or via telephone. Through one-on-one care as well as  weekly support groups, Here Tomorrow is sustained entirely through philanthropy and fueled by compassion providing a community of care for those in need and their families.
