Jacksonville Symphony to perform Barber, Mendelssohn and Vaughan Williams under Bellincampi

Jacksonville, Fla. (March 12, 2026) — Guest conductor Giordano Bellincampi leads the Jacksonville Symphony and Symphony Chorus in Barber & Mendelssohn on March 27 and 28 at Jacoby Symphony Hall as part of the Florida Blue Classical Series.

Bellincampi, music director of the Auckland Philharmonia and a frequent guest conductor with orchestras across Europe, North America and Australasia, is widely recognized for his interpretations of large-scale symphonic and choral repertoire.

The program opens with Toward the Unknown Region by Ralph Vaughan Williams, a soaring work for chorus and orchestra inspired by Walt Whitman’s poetry, considered to be his first major critical success.

The Symphony’s Concertmaster Adelya Nartadjieva takes center stage as soloist in Samuel Barber’s Violin Concerto. The Uzbek-American violinist has performed internationally at venues including Carnegie Hall and the Elbphilharmonie and has earned top prizes at competitions across the United States, Europe and Asia. Known for her expressive artistry and “full and gorgeous tone,” she brings both lyricism and virtuosity to Barber’s concerto, which moves from soaring melodies to a high-energy finale.

The concert also features Symphony No. 3 "Scottish" by Felix Mendelssohn, an evocative symphony inspired by the landscapes and history of Scotland.

Performances take place March 27 and 28 at 7:30 p.m. in Jacoby Symphony Hall. Tickets and additionalinformation are available at JaxSymphony.org.
