PeTika Tave, 2006 WW Grand Prize Winner Turned Children’s Book Author Earns FAPA Silver Award for Her Touching Tribute to Grandpas

“Why I Love Grandpa” has recently been awarded the Florida Authors and Publishers Association Silver Award for Children’s Picture Books.

Jacksonville, FL – 8/7/2023 Local author and educator, PeTika Tave, is a no stranger to success. In 2006 she lost almost 200 lbs., which landed her on the Today Show as the Grand Prize Winner for the Southeast Division of Weight Watchers’ Inspiring Stories of the Year Award.

She later used her experiences as a child and educator to write two affirming books for children to help combat the growing epidemic of childhood depression.

In 2021, after losing her dad, Tave wrote the book, “Why I Love Grandpa,” a heartwarming tribute to grandfathers for all the love they show to their grandchildren. Tave often shares that the book is grandma approved to give grandpa a chance to be recognized.

Positive Impact

The book earned the Silver Award for its merits as a children’s book, including the message and illustrations. In June 2022, the book also earned a 5-Star Rating by Reader’s Favorite Reviewer, Kathy Golden, who stated the book “…is a beautiful tribute to grandfathers. It shows us all how important that connection between children and their grandparents is.” The full review is available at https://readersfavorite.com/book-review/why-i-love-grandpa.
