READJAX PARTNERS WITH AWARD WINNING AUTHOR PETIKA TAVE FOR NEW LITERACY CAMPAIGN

The Campaign Emphasizes the Impact of Reading 20 Minutes A Day on Reading Ability

Jacksonville, FL – (September 11, 2023) ReadJax.org is a local non-profit dedicated to improving the reading scores of third grade students in Duval County. Their campaign of reading 20 minutes a day is designed to help the organization reach it’s goals by encouraging students, empowering parents, partnering with schools, and using community resources to improve student outcomes.

Award Winning Author and local educator PeTika Tave was selected to be part of the campaign by sharing the story of her book “Why I Love Grandpa.” Through her story, she discusses the importance of families reading together and communicating in order to help reach the 20 minutes a day goal. Her heartwarming picture book celebrates her late father so beautifully that it won a Florida Authors and Publishers Silver Award in the Picture Book Category this past August.

It is the hope that through compelling stories from various influencers (five were selected) and the production of local producer Carla Mechele Media, that more parents and children will be encouraged to read 20 minutes a day, thus improving the literacy outcomes of students in Duval County.
