Jacksonville Transportation Authority continues free rides for Duval County middle and high school students through MyRide2School

JACKSONVILLE, FL. — September 21, 2023 — The Jacksonville Transportation Authority (JTA), in conjunction with Duval County Public Schools (DCPS), will continue to offer free bus rides to Duval County middle and high school students through the MyRide2School program throughout the 2023-24 school year.

Eligible students must provide a form of student identification upon boarding a fixed route or First Coast Flyer bus to verify that they attend a public, private or charter middle or high school in Duval County.

“Since the introduction of MyRide2School, the JTA has provided more transportation solutions for local middle and high school students,” said JTA CEO Nathaniel P. Ford Sr. “We are safely getting our youngest customers to school, work and beyond.”

MyRide2School, which began as a pilot program in January 2022, has proven to be a successful partnership. The program has provided over 245,000 rides to Duval County students since its inception, giving them more transportation options while also introducing a new generation of riders to the JTA.

The program’s pilot stage saw over 36,000 riders from January 2022 to May 2022, before becoming a full-time program in September 2022. Hours were then extended to cover seven days per week, with ridership soaring to over 200,000 students during the 2022-23 school year.

The program was also available to students this summer, with ridership reaching nearly 30,000 middle and high school students.
