Catholic Charities of Jacksonville Progresses on their Pathway to Bay

Catholic Charities Jacksonville (CCBJax) will relocate to the top floors of the historic Dyal-Upchurch Building on 6 Bay Street in downtown Jacksonville.  The Catholic agency is excited to celebrate ‘Spirit Day on Bay’ with their advocates on Friday, October 6th.   Board members will join CCBJax advocates and their new mascot, Duval for a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 11:00 a.m.  The Jacksonville regional office serves Baker, Clay, Duval, and Nassau counties and is the most prominent office within the Diocese of Saint Augustine.

The Jacksonville Regional Director, Lori Weber, is proud to see her team achieve this milestone on the Chamber of Commerce lot among Jacksonville’s downtown businesses, churches & neighbors.

Our mission is to place faith into action to serve the most vulnerable in our community with the compassion of Christ.  We have moved from a small staff of 20 at Providence House on Church Street to a growing 80 in ‘The Jessie’ on Adams.  This move to Bay Street signifies that our programs are thought of when our neighbors need help with social services.

Anna Lindler, Senior Director of Community Services, Cliff Thomas, Senior Director of Development and MarCom, and Jasfer Carolino, Senior Director of Finance, lead the organization towards strategic partnerships and planning.  Mr. Thomas adds:

Catholic Charities is special because of our philanthropists.  They believe in making a difference and are leaders in our local churches, hospitals, and businesses.  Without their support and generous giving of their time, talent, and treasures, our neighbors would not get the organized assistance they need to overcome obstacles.”

CCBJax agency will operate out of the 3rd, 4th & 5th  floors of the Dyal-Upchurch building by the Main Street Bridge.  It has served the Jacksonville community for 79 years through philanthropic-driven programs such as the growing Refugee Resettlement program; the Food Program, which uncovered over 600 underfed students; Supportive Services for Veteran Families; Immigration & Legal Services; ESOL; and its newest program: Camp I Am Special, which invites special needs children & volunteers to a summer camp each year.
