Firehouse Subs Holds Annual Charity Golf Tournament, Raises More Than $613,000 for First Responders

All funds raised benefit the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation®

JACKSONVILLE, Fla., October 10, 2023 – Firehouse Subs held its fourth annual charity golf tournament, the Firehouse Subs Open, at TPC Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida on Wednesday, October 4. The fundraiser raised more than $613,000 to benefit the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation, a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization created by Firehouse Subs Founders Chris Sorensen and Robin Sorensen in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina in 2005. The funds raised will support the Foundation’s mission to help provide lifesaving equipment and needed resources for first responders and public safety organizations across the country.

“Through the support from the Firehouse Subs Open Golf Tournament, the Foundation is able to provide much needed equipment and resources to first responders, ensuring they’re able to safely and effectively do their job and help save lives,” said Robin Peters, Executive Director of the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation.

Leading up to the tournament, there were several events held where participants had the opportunity to support the cause, including a tee-off party the night prior. Other fundraisers included various contests, raffles, and online and live auctions for items such as vacation packages, sports experiences, food and beverage gift cards, and more.

Celebrating its 18th anniversary this year, the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation has granted more than $79 million in equipment and resources to support hometown heroes across the country. Since inception, the Foundation has awarded 6,000+ automated external defibrillators (AEDs), 3,500+ sets of bunker gear, 1,000+ sets of vehicle extrication tools, and more! The generous donors at this year’s Firehouse Subs Open Golf Tournament will help make it possible for the Foundation to support more communities in such a crucial way.

Participants in the Firehouse Subs Open Golf Tournament included local first responders along with Firehouse Subs sponsors, donors, and executives.

To date, the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation has awarded over $79 million to hometown heroes throughout the U.S.
