The two-year, week-long anniversary celebration of two donor centers will feature raffles, gift card giveaways, prizes and food
WHAT:
LifeSouth Community Blood Centers is celebrating the two-year anniversary of two of its donor centers, Julington Creek and Fleming Island, by holding week-long festivities at both locations. All in the community are invited to attend and are encouraged to donate blood. The celebration serves as a great opportunity to bring the community together for some fun while also giving back to help save a life.
Throughout the week, those who come to celebrate and donate will be entered in pop-up raffles for a few giveaways – including an opportunity to win a turkey fryer/crab boil kit, perfect for upping the dinner party game this holiday season. $20 gift cards will automatically be given to donors, and platelet and red blood cell donors will receive an additional $20 gift card. Food and other great prizes will also be available.
LifeSouth supplies blood to 70% of Northeast Florida hospital beds through its service to many regional hospitals, including Baptist Medical Center Beaches, Baptist Medical Center Jacksonville, Baptist Medical Center Nassau, Baptist Medical Center South, HCA Florida Memorial Hospital, HCA Florida Orange Park Hospital, UF Health Jacksonville, UF Health North and Wolfson Children’s Hospital. Blood donated with LifeSouth directly helps patients at these hospitals.
Right now in the state of Florida, there’s a 1 to 2 day supply of blood. To meet normal demand of hospitals, blood centers need a 3 to 4 day supply, which makes donating especially important in this time of need.
