Florida Capital Bank Partners with Operation NewHope to Present the Hope Starts Here 5K on May 20, 2023

JACKSONVILLE, FL — Florida Capital Bank(FLCBank), a nationally chartered community bank headquartered in Jacksonville, today announced its partnership for the second year with Operation New Hope to present the Hope Starts Here 5K and One-Mile Fun Run on Saturday, May 20, 2023.

The race will begin and end at Operation New Hope’s offices in historic Springfield, located at 1830 N. Main Street. Runners and walkers of all levels are encouraged to register; all will enjoy a route that takes participants through a neighborhood with charming tree-lined streets, past homes dating back to the early 1900s and along sections of the Emerald Trail.
After the race, Operation New Hope’s great neighbors at Strings Sports Brewery will be hosting the Hope Starts Here 5k Breakfast and Brews at their fun restaurant with hoops, darts, and other games. Strings Sports Brewery is the perfect place to reflect on the race and recharge.

Proceeds from the race will support the nonprofit organization’s efforts to build safer communities, stronger economies, and more stable families through programs such as workforce training, mental health services and job placement for people affected by the criminal justice system.

“Whenever someone crosses a finish line in their life — whether it’s a personal goal, a professional accomplishment, or a 5K with friends and family — it has the power to inspire hope in someone else,” said Reggie Fullwood, President and CEO of Operation New Hope. “In the last 24 years, we have provided support and training to over 10,000 people to help reconnect them to the workforce, their families, and the community after involvement with the criminal justice system. We are so thankful to partner with FLCBank again this year and are grateful for their continued support of our life-changing programs.”

FLCBank was founded to provide solutions that support the financial success of businesses and their owners. After learning about the positive outcomes of Operation New Hope’s programs for job seekers and employers alike, members of the bank’s community engagement team toured the organization’s offices to garner a stronger understanding of their work. That meeting led to a partnership that bank leaders hope will encourage other businesses to give back to the neighborhoods they call home.
“We are honored to work with Operation New Hope. This event represents a step forward in making Jacksonville’s economy one where second chances are celebrated every day,” said Mark Johnson, President, and CEO of FLCBank. “Through our volunteer efforts like this event, FLCBank provides meaningful support to organizations who help make the communities where we live and work stronger and better for everyone.”

Registration for the Hope Starts Here 5Kis now open through 1st Place Sports. For more information about the Hope Starts Here 5K, visit operationnewhope.org.
