JACKSONVILLE, FLORIDA – JACKSONVILLE, Fla., May 1, 2023 - May is Mental Health Awareness Month and Hearts 4 Minds, a Jacksonville-based nonprofit, continues its fight to promote mental health awareness and education with the announcement of a new campaign, Lime 4 Life.
Lime 4 Life encourages individuals to share their experiences and perspectives on mental health and mental illness with the intention of sparking conversations and breaking the stigma associated with mental illnesses. The campaign also provides access to education and resources, while reassuring individuals —and caretakers —they are not alone and it’s OK to ask for help.
“Mental health issues are on the rise, and it is critical to have honest and open conversations about the subject if we are going to get help for the people who need it,” said Sheryl Johnson, founder of Hearts 4 Minds. “By breaking down the stigma and providing access to education and resources, we can help individuals living with mental health issues while also supporting their caretakers and loved ones.”
Lime 4 Life is a play on the color green, which is associated with Mental Health Awareness. Green signifies growth and new beginnings while the more vibrant shade of lime also represents confidence and creativity. As part of the campaign, individuals are encouraged to share their personal experiences on social media. Caretakers and loved ones can also express their support for those living with mental illness. Graphics and sample copy for posts are available on Hearts 4 Minds’ website.
“We’re asking everyone to recognize Mental Health Awareness Month by participating in Lime 4 Life. Share your story. Show support for people who live with mental illness. Wear lime green,” Johnson said. “And don’t forget to tag #Lime4Life #Hearts4Minds and #MentalHealthAwareness.”
