ABOUT FAMILY FOUNDATIONS OF NORTHEAST FLORIDA, INC.

Family Foundations of Northeast Florida, Inc., originally Family Counseling Services, was founded in 1955 by the Junior League, United Way of Northeast Florida, and the Jewish Welfare League to provide marriage and family counseling. In the mid-80s, we acquired Consumer Credit Counseling Services (CCCS), became a HUD-approved housing counseling agency, and were approved by the Executive Office of US Trustees to deliver bankruptcy counseling and education. Family Foundations has been involved in a number of initiatives throughout its history, including BLAST, a program created to empower parents and engage families in the communities, and 1000 in 1000, an anti-poverty initiative, and has served and impacted thousands of families.

In October 2021, Family Foundations re-branded its Financial Wellness program to the Financially Resilient, Economically Empowered Families Program (F.R.E.E. Families) which incorporates our Keys to Homeownership Initiative. We embrace our ideal to provide comprehensive financial counseling, life coaching, and financial wellness assessments to low- to moderate-income individuals and families in the community. We specifically seek to assist professionals and “hometown heroes” who are working on mortgage pre-qualification, refinancing, and/or estate planning efforts to help them more easily navigate the process. Keys to Homeownership is built on a foundation of Advocacy, Activism and Action so that we teach individuals to become more informed homeowners, neighbors, and citizens.
