LOCAL AUTHOR AND EDUCATOR RECEIVES MICRO-GRANT FROM THE JAX MELANIN MARKET

Jacksonville, FL – 2/20/2023 Local author and educator, PeTika Tave, was awarded a $500 Micro-Grant during the Black History Melanin Market by Jax Melanin Market on February 19, 2023. She was one of 5 small business owners that received the Micro-Grant which was given to help small minority-owned businesses grow in the local economy.

Tave was motivated to open her small business after vending at her first event sponsored by The Melanin Market in September 2021. The overwhelming response to her first two books led to the release of several affirming products such as posters and puzzles, along with a third book that celebrates the special bond between children and their grands. Her books have a positive message that encourages children to love themselves just the way they are, while also strengthening family relationships.

COMMUNITY IMPACT:

The Jax Melanin Market is committed to helping small minority-owned businesses grow in the local economy and pledges to distribute $10,000 in grants to 20 small businesses in 2023! Having been awarded the Micro-Grant, Tave plans to use the money to kickstart the publication of the 4th children’s book from her company, BayaBooks and More. The new title was written by her 13-year old daughter and sidekick Zandria, and hopes to be released in Winter 2023. It is an exciting time for Tave as the reach of her books and the catalog of the company’s titles continues to grow. You can find out more about Tave at www.BayaBooks.com.
