WJXT and WCWJ Jacksonville Welcome Cherish Geter as New General Sales Manager and David Girvan as Director of Technology

Jacksonville, FL:  WJXT and WCWJ Jacksonville are thrilled to announce the appointment of Cherish Geter as our new General Sales Manager and David Girvan as Director of Technology.

Cherish brings a wealth of experience and a proven track record of success from her previous role as the Director of Sales at WJBF-TV in Augusta, Georgia.

At WJBF-TV, Cherish spearheaded strategic sales initiatives and drove significant revenue growth while adeptly navigating the dynamic and evolving media landscape.  Her innovative approach and leadership were instrumental in achieving and surpassing sales targets.

Before her promotion to Director of Sales, Cherish excelled as the Local and Digital Sales Manager at WJBT-TV.  While in that hybrid role, she was able to lead a high-performing sales team to surpass revenue objectives, implement both high and mid journey campaign strategies, and seamlessly integrate digital media to increase consumer outreach.  Her efforts resulted in consistently exceeding revenue objectives and setting new benchmarks for success.

Cherish’s extensive professional background also includes her role as Digital Sales Manager at WJBT-TV, Account Executive at WSB-TV in Atlanta, Georgia, and Account Executive at WFXG-TV in Augusta, Georgia.  Her diverse experience in these positions has equipped her with a deep understanding of the media sales industry and a comprehensive skill set that she will bring to her new role at WJXT and WCWJ.

A native of Augusta, Cherish holds a bachelor’s degree in communications from Augusta University and a master’s degree in philosophy & religious studies from Howard University in Washington, D.C.

"We are excited to welcome Cherish to our team," said Terri Cope Walton, Vice President and General Manager at WJXT and WCWJ.  "Her impressive background, strategic vision, and commitment to excellence make her the ideal leader to drive our sales efforts forward and achieve new heights of success."

Additionally, Terri Cope Walton announced the appointment of David Girvan as the new Director of Technology.  David joins us from Alaska, where he served as the Gray Media Group Alaska Director of Technology/Chief Engineer for KTUU, KYES, KAUU, KATH, KYEX, KSCT and KUBD.  Said Cope Walton, "David's extensive experience and proven expertise in broadcast technology will be invaluable as we continue to innovate and enhance our technical operations.”

In his previous role, David was responsible for overseeing all aspects of studio and transmitter technology across multiple locations including Anchorage, Juneau, Sitka, and Ketchikan.  He also provided regional engineering support for facilities in Fairbanks, Healy and Delta Junction.  Notably, David was the technical lead for all remote productions, including race coverage and special broadcasts for the Iditarod.

Cherish begins August 5, 2024, and David begins August 12, 2024.
